National Director Black & Pink
To liberate people impacted by the criminal punishment system, particularly those who identify as LGBTQ+ and/or are living with HIV/AIDS, through advocacy, support, and organizing.
Youth Services Chair supports all youth oriented activities with Heartland Pride. Youth Pride, (created by Dominique Morgan)is the main focus of his work. Dominique also oversee the scholarship program.
Blackburn high school
As an alternative education site, Blackburn provides smaller classes, flexible scheduling, and self-pacing to complete courses. Students who demonstrate good attendance, appropriate behavior, and academic achievement are recommended to return to traditional high school.
A 1,900-Pound Sculpture Pushed Through the Streets of Omaha, in Tribute to Its LGBTQ History. The performance took place in Omaha where members of the local LGBTQI+ community joined in pushing the one-ton monument to local sites of trauma, resilience, and survival, including a prison where LGBT youth of color are incarcerated.
One site was the largest prison in the Midwest, was chosen by Dominique Morgan, a local activist and acclaimed singer and songwriter, deeply entrenched in advocacy for community and youth. He chose this site because LGBT youth of color are particularly at risk for arrest and detention. Another chosen site marked the first pride parade in 1985, where both marchers and viewers were so ashamed to be associated with the event that they preserved their anonymity by wearing paper shopping bags over their heads.
Freedom Fighter Award
The Omaha NAACP awarded Morgan the Freedom Fighter Award for his work on behalf of the LGBT community, prisoners and people affected by alcohol and tobacco abuse.
"Whatever platform he has, he uses it to fight for what is right," said Vickie Young, president of the Omaha NAACP. "He's done so for as long as I've known him."
He also serves on the board for the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Awards, chairs an NAACP fundraiser and volunteers for various other groups.
YBI ADVOCACY AWARD
Young Black & Influential Omaha is a movement designed to affirm and empower Black leadership or “Influencers” in the Omaha metropolitan area. So, our “why” is pretty simple; to make sure that Black leaders are seen and have the tools and platform to do the work.
Dominique dedicating his time and resources to better the Omaha Black community. This can include but is Through volunteering, and serving on a nonprofit boards, and advocating for systemic change through policy.
